So, why do so many people fail at sticking to a fitness routine?
Well, let's face it - consistency can be a real pain in the ass. We all start out strong, but after a few weeks of the same old routine without seeing the results we'd hoped for, it gets difficult. 2 days of training without at least 1 ab to show for it is a bitter pill for a lot of people to swallow.
Then life happens and it's easy to lose steam and find ourselves face-down on the sofa instead of face-down in the weight rack. I know that analogy doesn't work but you get the sentiment. Suddenly, our gym membership becomes just another neglected subscription on our bank card statement.
Then you have the people that just don't know where to start. Like, do we lift weights or run on a treadmill, or do both at the same time? Do we stretch or dance or do both at the same time? It's all so confusing!
And don't even get me started on all the conflicting information out there about fitness. It's overwhelming by design.
Unfortunately money makes the world go around and healthy people aren't profitable. Sick people are. Sick people are easy to sell to because they have the biggest problems.
They're the most desperate. I was desperate once too, I had a messed up knee and poor mental health. I took so much bad advice from PT's and internet gym guru's on my fitness journey. But it's not their fault, there's just a lot of terrible information out there.
But don't worry, I'm dumping all the secrets I learned the hard way to developing a healthy and active lifestyle in this body mastery series. You don't need me to tell you how important taking care of our bodies is, but i'm going to do it anyway.
We only get 1 body, and it's up to us to make it last. If you had to buy 1 car and make it last for the rest of your life, how are you going to look after that car? Are you going to fill it up with coca cola and expect it to function like a well oiled machine?
I'm sure you probably know someone who cares more about their new phone or car than they do about their own health, but why is that?
Why do people look after material things better than they look after their own bodies? Well, I have a hot take on this... it's the matrixxxxx... I'm just playing.
But I've noticed that western society seems to put a lot of pressure on us to view material possessions as a symbol of success and status and i'll leave it at that.
For many people, I actually think the issue is rooted in a lack of education or negative self-image. Identity is so important, if you identify as a garbage human, it's a lot easier to partake in garbage behaviours.
Your self-worth and self-respect is earned by doing difficult things that are good for you in the long run.
Ultimately, our bodies are our most valuable possession, you can either figure out how to live a healthy lifestyle now or you're going to have to figure out how to live an illness lifestyle later on.
TRANSFORMING YOUR BODY

Transforming your body can feel like an impossible feat, especially if you've struggled with your weight or been a "skinny" person your whole life. I know because I've been there. For years, I felt like no matter what I did, I just couldn't put on the weight and muscle I wanted.
But then, something clicked. I realised that it wasn't about finding some magical solution or quick fix - it was about consistency and determination. It's not the sexy answer, I know, but it's the truth. I started doing the right things every day, even when I didn't feel like it. I made sure to eat the right calories, protein, and healthy foods, and I stuck to my workout routine. That's it.
It wasn't easy, and there were plenty of days where I couldn't be bothered to do anything. But I kept pushing through, and slowly but surely, I started seeing progress. My body started changing, along with my strength, confidence and resilience and I haven't looked back.
So if you're feeling discouraged or like you'll never be able to transform your body, know that you're not alone. It takes time, effort, and a lot of hard work, but it's absolutely possible. Don't give up on yourself - you're capable of achieving amazing things, and you deserve to feel proud of your body and all it can do.
Always remember, you were born to be the anti-hero of your story.
Free your outlaw.
