THE ART OF RESILIENCE
Has the thought of facing the world ever been so paralysing that you just laid in bed all day?
Hiding from your problems, feeling powerless to do anything to fix them.
We all have times when life makes us want to crawl into a hole; but resiliency is what gives us the strength to face our problems like men. The more resilience you have the more capable you’re of handling stress. And the more bulletproof you are to all of the problems that are crushing the average person. Depression, anxiety, and a lack of self worth are 3 things that are pushing men to delete themselves from this earth.
It's now more important than ever to work on our ability to face setbacks, failures, and pain (both emotional and physical) with confidence and courage. As men we need to act and react in competent and productive ways at all times. We don’t live in a society that respects irrational males, and for good reason. Irrational males are the kids who end up shooting up schools because the world was unfair to them, and they have no control over their emotions. News flash: Life’s not fair.
We’re going to face trials and tragedies in life but how quickly are you able to bounce back from them?
When the going gets tough how long are you able to keep moving forward without giving up?
This is what resiliency is all about. It’s the ability to stick with something through thick and thin, using your pain as fuel to overcome the temptation to bail when things stop being easy.
Resilient men don’t let mistakes from their past eat them up inside. Instead, they concentrate on the only thing they can control, their actions in the present moment.
Resilient men take personal responsibility for their actions. They don’t complain and blame others. Everything is their fault because you can only find solutions when you take accountability.
We see resiliency in the guy who gets cancer and does everything in his power to beat it.
In the man who gets a divorce, but doesn’t get bitter.
In the guy who gets dumped and proceeds to get in the best shape of his life so he can find an even better partner.
He’s the rock who maintains his composure when bad news hits, and is able to take care of his loved ones when everything’s crumbling. He’s both strong and flexible. He can deal with his annoying co-worker without anger, argue with his girlfriend without losing his composure, and handle his team losing without letting it ruin his weekend. This doesn’t just define resiliency but the essence of what it means to be an outlaw.
The man who has no resiliency dwells on his obstacles whilst he could be taking action. The fear of experiencing any kind of pain and embarrassment stops him from having the courage to take chances. Without resiliency we play it safe; we hide from the world, we prioritise comfort, and we have victim energy.
Picture old you sitting in a rocking chair and ask yourself this – When you’re at the end of your life, are you going to regret never making an attempt, never trying, never taking a risk to become the man you’re capable of becoming?
Every man wants to know the secret of the man who is able to walk up to any woman and strike up a conversation. Who is never flustered. Who takes action and goes for the things he wants in life. Their secret is… resilience. They’ve got a thick skin; they walk around feeling like they can handle whatever life throws at them. It’s a skill that they’ve developed. And you can too.
The biggest determining factor of a person’s resilience is the environment they’re born into. People in third world countries who are living in harsh conditions, struggling to put food on the table and keep a roof over their heads are naturally resilient. They have to be tough to survive their environment.
Resiliency is mainly an issue in first world countries where the biggest threat to our survival is abundance, too much food to eat, too many things to watch and too many things to buy. Unless we have parents or role models that help us develop this quality, we end up having to navigate the world with a weak mindset. But like all skills, this is a muscle that can be strengthened by regular exercise.
Now is the time to awaken the resilience within you, to rise above the paralysing fear and take control of your life. It's about facing the world head-on, even when it feels overwhelming. Resiliency is the key to handling setbacks, failures, and pain with unwavering strength and courage. As men, we must strive to be the epitome of resilience, refusing to let our past mistakes define us. We take personal responsibility for our actions, understanding that blaming others only hinders our growth.
Imagine the power of bouncing back from life's toughest challenges, using them as fuel to propel you forward. Resilient men don't crumble under the weight of adversity; they emerge stronger, wiser, and more determined. They transform setbacks into opportunities and use every moment to take bold, purposeful action.
They are the true outlaws, unshaken by external circumstances. No more hiding, no more victim mentality. Embrace the challenges, push beyond your comfort zone, and become the man who defies the odds. The choice is yours – will you regret playing it safe or will you rise above and leave a lasting legacy? Unleash your resilience, step into your power, and become the ultimate outlaw of your own destiny.
Always remember, you were born to be the hero of your story.
Free your outlaw.
